RELIABLE INTERNET CONNECTIONS

On the home internet connection speed side this is simple. You just need a reliable and quick connection speed for one or two users. For the employer, you will need a more robust internet connection that can handle many simultaneous secure connections.

Cloud based apps such as Microsoft Office 365 or Google Apps do not require or put any strain on the employer’s internet bandwidth. This is because your end users are accessing those secure cloud platforms directly from their pc and internet at home!

A SOLUTION THAT MEETS ALL COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR BUSINESS.

Your remote work solution must be compliant if you are under HIPAA, FINRA, SOX, PCI, etc. If the method remote access isn’t compliant, you are exposing your data and business to unnecessary risk. As one example, Microsoft Office 365 is a compliant solution that will meet many compliance regulations.

WINDOWS VIRTUAL DESKTOP

Windows Virtual Desktop allows for a secure virtual Windows experience that is usable by any device including phones and tablets and lets them securely access their work data and apps from anywhere even on an unsecure device such as the end user’s home PC!

SECURE ACCESS TO YOUR FILES AND FOLDERS

If your end users are using a 3rd party solution to connect directly to their work PC or they are using Windows Virtual Desktop, they are already should be good to go and be able to securely access the company’s files and folders.

Another solution would be to use a VPN or virtual private network whereby the end user using a software agent on their home PC securely connects backs to the company’s firewall.

Ideally, in this scenario we don’t want to use the end user’s home computer. The end user’s home PC may not be up to date, can be compromised with spyware or other security threats and you have no way to provide proper security or enforce policies that would protect your sensitive data from key logging and phishing. A better alternative would be for the employer to have company-issued laptops or tablets for use in these situations.

However, realistically we know that’s not going to be the case for 100% of end users at most businesses. In these situations, the preferred recommended solution is to use a 3rd party solution or Windows Virtual Desktop as we mentioned above.
