At ThrottleNet, we believe a strong team culture is built in the everyday moments, but it also grows through the experiences we share outside the office. While collaboration during the workday is important, there is something especially valuable about stepping away from the usual routine and spending time together in a different setting.

That is part of what made our recent team outing so much fun.

Recently, the ThrottleNet team spent an evening at The Axe House, and it turned into one of those experiences that reminded us how important it is to make time for connection. The night included dinner from Texas Roadhouse, plenty of laughs, a little friendly competition, and more than a few memorable throws. Between axes, throwing stars, spears, and a lot of cheering from the sidelines, it was a great night to simply enjoy being together as a team.

Taking Time to Connect Outside the Office

In any workplace, it is easy to get caught up in schedules, deadlines, and the fast pace of the day-to-day. Even in a team that works closely together, there is real value in creating space to connect in a more relaxed way.

That is why outings like this matter to us.

Getting together outside the office gives our team a chance to interact in a different environment. Conversations feel a little easier. People get to see different sides of one another that do not always come through during a typical workday. Those moments may seem simple on the surface, but they play a big role in building the kind of culture people genuinely enjoy being part of.

Our night at The Axe House was a great example of that. It was not about being polished or professional. It was about showing up, trying something new, having fun, and enjoying each other’s company.

A Night Full of Bullseyes, Laughs, and Friendly Competition

Of course, the activity itself made the evening one to remember.

There is something about stepping up to throw an axe, a spear, or a throwing star that immediately gets everyone engaged. Some people looked like naturals right away. Others needed a few practice rounds to find their rhythm. Either way, every throw gave the group something to react to, whether it was a perfect bullseye, a near miss, or one of those attempts that was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

That mix of competition and encouragement made the night even better. People were laughing, celebrating each other’s wins, and fully leaning into the experience. It was the kind of atmosphere that made it easy for everyone to be present and enjoy the moment.

And before the competition began, sharing a meal from Texas Roadhouse gave everyone a chance to settle in, catch up, and start the evening together. It added to the overall feeling that this was more than just an event on the calendar. It was time intentionally spent together.

Why These Moments Matter

Team culture is often talked about in big-picture terms, but in reality, it is built through experiences like this.

Culture is shaped by how people feel when they are around their coworkers. It is reflected in the relationships that form over time, the trust that develops naturally, and the shared memories that give a team its personality. Outings like our Axe House night help strengthen those connections in a way that feels genuine.

When people have the chance to relax together, try something different, and share a few laughs, it builds camaraderie. It creates stories that get retold later. It gives people common ground beyond their daily responsibilities. And it helps reinforce something important: being part of a team should feel enjoyable, not just productive.

At ThrottleNet, we value those moments because they contribute to the kind of workplace we want to have. We want our team members to feel connected, appreciated, and glad to be part of what we are building together. Sometimes that happens in the office. Sometimes it happens over dinner and a night of throwing axes.

Culture Is Built in Big and Small Ways

Not every culture-building moment has to be a major event. Sometimes it is the small things that leave the biggest impression. A shared laugh. A teammate surprising everyone with an unexpected competitive streak. The group cheering when someone lands a great throw. Those are the kinds of moments people remember.

Our outing to The Axe House was a reminder that culture is not just something you talk about. It is something you create through shared experiences, consistency, and intentional time together.

We are proud of the team we have at ThrottleNet, and nights like this are a reflection of what makes that team special. It is not just that we work together. It is that we genuinely enjoy spending time together, supporting one another, and making room for fun along the way.

Looking Back on a Great Evening

By the end of the night, there were plenty of stories to take with us, from impressive shots to funny misses and everything in between. More than anything, it was simply a great way to spend time together outside the office.

Our evening at The Axe House was a fun reminder that strong teams are built not only through the work they do, but through the moments they share. We are grateful for opportunities like this and for a team that knows how to show up, have fun, and make the most of time together.
