ThrottleNet spent the month of May actively engaging with the Kansas City community, supporting local initiatives, and raising cybersecurity awareness. Here’s a look at a couple of the events where we showed up, connected, and contributed: the MOKAN Golf Tournament and the Healthy KC Vendor Expo.

Supporting Local Youth at the MOKAN Golf Tournament

Community Involvement on the Course

ThrottleNet had the opportunity to take part in the MOKAN Golf Tournament, an event that benefits youth involved in the MOKAN basketball program. While we focus on managed IT and cybersecurity, we also strongly believe in supporting programs that invest in the next generation.

Bringing Some Fun to the Fairway

We provided snacks for participants and hosted a “closest to the pin” game that saw a steady stream of golfers testing their aim throughout the day. Wether they bombed it down the fairway or chunked it into the bush next to them, it was fun, friendly, and stayed competitive! The winner ended up being 1 foot from the pin!

Golfers of all skill levels stopped by to test their aim and talk with our team. It was a great chance to connect, share what we do, and support a cause that’s making an impact locally.

Engaging with Healthcare at the Healthy KC Vendor Expo

A Strong First Impression

As a new member of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, ThrottleNet participated in the 10th Annual Healthy KC Vendor Expo! The event brought together vendors and professionals from across the healthcare industry—a space where cybersecurity is more important than ever.

Offering Dark Web Scans and Real Conversations

At our booth, we provided free dark web scans, helping attendees identify potential risks tied to leaked credentials or compromised data. The tool served as a starting point for meaningful discussions around data protection, compliance, and how to stay ahead of evolving threats.

We appreciated how open attendees were to learning more—not just about the risks, but about practical solutions and a reminder of how critical strong cybersecurity is to modern healthcare.

Why Events Like These Matter

ThrottleNet’s presence at these events wasn’t just about visibility—it was about providing value and building trust. Whether it’s on a golf course or at a healthcare expo, we’re always aiming to:

  • Be a resource to our community
  • Educate organizations on cybersecurity risks and best practices
  • Support causes and programs that make a real difference

Staying connected with the Kansas City business community helps us better understand the needs of the organizations we serve—and reminds us why local engagement matters.

Looking Ahead

May was a great month for connection and community. We’re very grateful to the organizers of both events for having us and to anybody and everybody who stopped by to say hello or start a conversation.

We’re looking forward to a busy summer and continuing to support Kansas City and St Louis organizations through smarter IT and cybersecurity solutions!
