An Early Look at Google Pixel 2

Google Pixel created quite a buzz when it was released in 2016.

The phone was highly promoted and laid its claim with an advanced camera. Sales have been steady but have posed no real threat to industry titans like Apple’s iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy.

Some believe Pixel’s sales failed to challenge the larger players due to a design that was nothing special and the price rather large at around $650.

Still many in the industry believe Google’s  attempt to chip away at the Android market was a nice first step and have high expectations that the tech giant will release a new, improved version sometime this year.

The App Store Future Is Bleak – Or Not

future-of-the-app-storeGoogle may have taken the first step regarding its feelings on the future of the app store building upon its site-to-home screen feature in Android to allow users to add Progressive Web Apps to their home screen.

In the near future, it’s likely that that users will no longer be able to perceive a difference between a website and mobile app, and according to an article in Venture Beat this will kill the future of the app store. This is not a new theory, foreshadowed by one author in 2011 who stated that web apps are a real threat to the app store’s existence.

What to Expect from the iPhone 8

Apple is expected to release the next generation of its iPhone series later this year.

The new iPhone 8 series, if rumors are correct, will be different in size and feel.

DigiTimes cited a source indicating Apple will launch three models in different sizes. These include 4.7, 5.5, and 5.8 inches. The phones are expected to be released in the second half of 2017.

MacBook Pro: High Performance at a Price

Innovation has always been a hallmark at Apple.

The new MacBook Pro is no different.

Available soon, Mac fans will find the device has many new features and improvements that should keep this laptop in high demand for both personal and business use.

Start with the design both inside and out. The Pro has an aluminum body, solid state design, and a Core i7 processor. It is more powerful yet thinner and lighter than its predecessors. Try 17% thinner, a significant difference.

Two sizes are available. A smaller 13 inch version weighs in at just three pounds. The 15 inch version weighs just four pounds.

Some fans have been clamoring for a touch screen application from Apple, and the new Pro delivers but in a different way.

The Google Pixel: It's All About The Camera

 

Google's attempt at its first mobile phone, the Pixel, is starting to hit store shelves.

It is the company's first phone with its own design, hardware and software. It represents nearly a clean break from partners who assisted with the production of the Nexus brand of products.

The phone represents a change in appearance and performance from previous Android versions. This includes an attractive appearance with a fast and smooth one-piece aluminum design. It has a wedge shape to keep the camera flush.

The iPhone 7, Worth the Investment?

Apple has launched the new iPhone7 and iPhone7 Plus.

The phones will be available shortly and pre-orders, according to reports, are extremely strong.

Early indicators show the new device offers some nice upgrades over the iPhone6, and 6S. But are there enough to warrant an upgrade or large spend to get one?

Size matters and the iPhone 7 is about the same as the 6S. It has a 4.7 inch screen. The iPhone 7 Plus has the larger 5.5 inch screen and some nice added camera features to boot, more about that later.

Apple iPhoneSE: Small Package, Big Performance

Those looking to “downsize” from the too-big-to-fit-into-my-pocket smartphone market may want to take a hard look at Apple’s new iPhone SE.

The phone offers plenty of the same features found in its larger counterparts, all wrapped in a smaller package.
