ThrottleNet Inc was founded in December of 1999 by George Rosenthal & Marc Arbesman as a software development company that used business process analysis (George's strength) to accurately design & develop web driven software (Marc's strength).

In January of 2001, John Harness founded SolutionTeks LLC as a business computer network consulting company. A month later, he hired Michael Heil, whom he'd worked with on a former consulting project. Both of them were Microsoft Certified System Engineers (MCSE), and that allowed SolutionTeks to become a Microsoft Certified Partner in June of 2001.

Several months went by with both companies gaining some momentum (i.e. paying clients). George and John then met in a BNI networking group, and hit it off right away.

SolutionTeks & ThrottleNet complemented each other very nicely. Networks need software to run, and software needed a network to run on. George and John continued to trade leads back and forth for several years. In June of 2004, SolutionTeks & ThrottleNet moved under one roof in order to facilitate a closer working relationship between the companies.

All parties worked really well together, and in 2005, John Harness became a full partner in ThrottleNet Inc. along with Michael Heil. With the diverse strengths of the four partners, the company quickly grew and began to offer expanded services. In 2007, ThrottleNet became a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner.

Today, with nineteen employees, a commercial product (MyKnowIt.com), and over 230 business customers in St. Louis, MO, ThrottleNet is one of the largest mid-market full service technology firms in St. Louis.

John Harness, as CEO, now manages the day to day operations of the company, while George, as President, is principally responsible for business development (though he still manages to complete business analysis work at the same time). Michael Heil leads up the team of network engineers, and Marc Arbesman leads the team of application developers to produce leading edge software.

Oh, and if you're wondering where the name ThrottleNet came from, it was actually quite simple. While George and Marc were sitting in George's car (their office at the time), George, a former pilot, remarked at how his gear shift lever kind of looked like the throttle on an aircraft. A light bulb went off, and they became ThrottleNet Inc.
